Inspired Broadband review

Inspired Broadband keeps its NBN plans simple, covering just 3 out of 6 speed tiers. Its plans should suit most households of 1–4 people.

  • Its NBN prices are roughly in line with the average in Finder's database – its NBN 50 and 100 plans are slightly cheaper than the average.
  • Inspired Broadband's typical evening speeds fall short of the maximum available on each speed tier, so you could find better value for money with another provider offering faster speeds.
  • You can BYO modem, but if you need to buy one from Inspired Broadband, it will cost $99 upfront. This is quite cheap compared to the average cost of modems on Finder.
  • It's also one of the few providers still offering ADSL plans, but with this being surpassed by the NBN, this may not hold that much relevance for most people.

Things to watch out for:

  • Inspired Broadband charges you $5 a month if you don't pay by direct debit.
  • You need to give 30 days' notice if you cancel your Inspired Broadband plan, plus you will also pay an early termination fee that's equal to your monthly charges.
  • Signing up to a plan from Inspired Broadband means you forfeit your rights under the ACMA Customer Service Guarantee, which isn't recommended as you'll have no grounds to stand on should you wish to complain about its NBN plans underperforming.

You're able to bundle a phone line with your NBN plan if you desire. For an extra $7.95 a month you get phone calls to Australian landlines and mobiles charged at a flat rate of 40c a call. If you want unlimited Australian local, national and mobile calls, that costs $14.95 a month.
