What does roadside assistance cover?
Roadside assistance can cover you for the following:
- Breakdowns and towing: If your car stops running, roadside assistance can help get you back on the road with a quick repair or give you a tow if it's something more major.
- Dead battery: Left the lights on and now your battery is flat? Roadside assistance can help get you back up and running.
- Lost keys: Most roadside assistance subscriptions include access to a locksmith.
- Running out of fuel: Thought you could go further on empty than you really could? Your roadside assistance provider should be able to get you enough litres of fuel to get to the next fuel station.
- Flat tyre: If you're not sure how to change your own tyre or you don't have a spare, roadside assistance can really save the day here.
Every provider is different and what's included will vary based on your own subscription. To get an idea of limits that apply, check with your provider or use our table above.

I’m trying to find if any of the policies available in Victoria cover the Driver, regardless of the vehicle they are driving. Also, do any cover more than one vehicle owned by the same person or couple
Hi Roz, Some roadside assistance packages will cover you regardless of the vehicle you drive – for instance, RACV Total Care falls into this category. These packages are typically much more expensive though, so you’d need to weigh up how often you actually drive different vehicles.
