Vets Choice offers 2 pet insurance policy options to choose from. You have the option to add on dental cover and extra cover for cruciate ligament. Keep in mind that waiting times apply and each policy comes with an excess charge as well as a sub and annual benefit limit.
Pro Cover
You will receive 80% of approved claim costs depending on your choice of benefit level at the point of purchase. The annual limit is $12,000, though sub-limits may also apply. Cover with a Pro Cover policy includes cover for accidents and illnesses such as:

What is not covered by Vets Choice?
Here are some of the services excluded from a Vets Choice pet insurance policy.
Vaccinations and regular check-ups. Routine care is not generally covered. Some of the treatments excluded include:
General consultations
Dental treatment (unless you have selected the optional dental add-on)
Alternative treatments. You are only covered for the treatments outlined in your policy, even if the alternative treatment is done by a vet.
Elective treatment. Treatment for accidental injuries or illnesses that are not covered under your policy even if they may be beneficial to your dog or cat but are not essential to their survival.
Age restrictions. Keep in mind that, like many insurers, Vets Choice will only insure dogs and cats between the ages of 8 weeks and 8 years.

Vets Choice frequently asked questions
Vets Choice has a number of add-ons and additional benefits. These include:
Dental plus: This pays for approved vet costs for certain preventative dental treatments up to the applicable annual sub-limit. You don't need to pay any excess for these benefits and there is no waiting period either.
Multi-pet discount: Vets Choice will take 5% off your premiums if you insure another pet.
Essential euthanasia: Vets Choice will pay the vet costs to euthanise your pet if a vet decides euthanasia is necessary.
Lifetime cover. You can get guaranteed lifetime cover for your pet as long as you join before they reach their 9th birthday and your policy remains active.
You'll need to serve a 21-day waiting period for most accidental injuries and illnesses. In some instances, Vets Choice will waive waiting periods for accidental injuries. There's also a 6-month waiting period for cruciate ligament conditions.
Vets Choice will cover 80% of eligible vet bills depending on the benefit level chosen at point of purchase – it's one of the few insurers to do so. However, you will have to pay an excess when you make a claim. The amount will be outlined to you when you take out a policy.
